Arbitrum

Arbitrum, developed by Offchain Labs, provides a suite of Layer 2 scalability solutions for Ethereum. Since launching its token, ARB, in March 2023, Arbitrum has been governed by the community through a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO). This DAO makes decisions on protocol upgrades, treasury allocation, and other key aspects of the ecosystem.

Arbitrum is best known for its rollup protocol, Arbitrum Rollup, a general-purpose optimistic rollup technology designed to increase Ethereum’s throughput using a multi-round fraud-proof system. Arbitrum One is the publicly available version of this rollup technology. Another offering, Arbitrum AnyTrust, is a Layer 2 protocol optimized for low-cost transactions with minimal trust requirements, ideal for gaming and social applications where ultra-low fees are crucial. This solution is implemented in Arbitrum Nova, another public network by Offchain Labs.

Additionally, Offchain Labs offers Arbitrum Orbit, a Rollup-as-a-Service (RaaS) framework and network-building toolkit. This allows the creation of custom Arbitrum Rollup or AnyTrust chains as Layer 2 or Layer 3 networks, providing tailored scalability solutions. The Arbitrum Bridge enables seamless asset transfer and interoperability between Layer 1 Ethereum and networks built with Arbitrum Orbit.
