Base

Base is a Layer 2 rollup network developed by Coinbase, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in the world. It uses optimistic rollup technology to scale Ethereum by batching transactions off-chain and then submitting them to the main chain. This process is secured by fraud proofs and challenge periods to ensure transaction validity.

Base is built with the OP Stack, a modular network development kit and Rollup-as-a-Service (RaaS) solution provided by Optimism. This framework allows the creation of custom rollups as Layer 2 or Layer 3 solutions on top of Ethereum’s Layer 1. Networks built with the OP Stack share the same foundational infrastructure, providing high interoperability with other networks, such as Mode, which is one of Base’s significant advantages.
